Yes, it’s that time of the year where New Year’s resolutions are made, gym memberships are at its highest and weight is promised to dropped. The gym that I’ve been going to for the past several months is becoming more and more crowded. Even though being around people in the gym is one thing I absolutely can’t stand, my number one pet peeve is doing cardio! Cardio is the key exercise to slimming down and shrinking that waist but I hate it so much. I have accepted the fact that it is something that has to be done. I have to make the best of it. How did I make the best of it? Here is what I started to do:
Switch it up. Staying on one machine for 30-45 minutes nonstop could drive a person insane and away from the gym. I try to change it up quite often since my body has really good muscle memory. Split your time up between machines (ex: 20 min of treadmill, 10 stairmaster, 15 min elliptical). Working in some H.I.I.T (High Intensity Interval Training) workouts from Tumblr or Pinterest are great too. There are so many to choose from on and off the cardio machine.
Netflix & Chill. Yep. You read right. I’m all for cuddling my significant other for a TV series binge. I found this very help for my cardio time, too. Whether it’s one episode or an entire movie, watching Netflix on your phone or tablet while on a machine can make the time fly by. One time a watched a comedy special and I was on the elliptical for a little over an hour. I try to do an episode a workout session - which is about 20-30 min. Youtube is a great alternative as well.

Have a dope playlist. I really don’t need music when I run. I’m just not that kinda person. When I lift weights I do, but running not so much. I am obsessed with Apple Music and they have some great playlists that are personalized to the genres you already have. My two favorite fitness playlists right now are Workout to Beyonce - DUH - and Trappin’ on the Treadmill. Good music will definitely put some fire underneath you.
How do you get through those dreaded cardio sessions?
